SpinQuest Update: 5 New Real-World Wheels + Smarter Quest Compass Maps

SpinQuest just added 5 new real-world wheels (Coffee Trail, Street Art Trail, Thrill Parks, Haunted Trail, Literary Trail) with 227 new quests, plus a live-map upgrade to every Quest Compass dial theme.

What's New on SpinQuest

It's been a big couple of weeks behind the scenes. Here's everything that shipped -- five brand-new real-world wheels, a smarter Quest Compass, and a real-world-focused version of the homepage now getting tested live.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Quest Compass: Every Dial Theme Can Now Show a Live Map

Quest Compass is SpinQuest's GPS-powered radar game -- spin a real-world wheel, then let the compass guide you there with a live tracking beam. Until now, only one dedicated dial theme showed a map background. That's changed: every dial theme (Radar, Glacier, Expedition, Arcade, Hologram, and more) can now toggle on a live Map Underlay, with a choice of a lightweight Stylized vector map (the new default -- faster to load) or full satellite imagery. We also fixed a bug where the map would occasionally load zoomed all the way out to a global view instead of centering on your actual position.

🏠 A Real-World-Focused Homepage, Now Live-Tested

We also shipped a third homepage design built specifically around real-world quests, Quest Compass, and SpinQuest's mini party games (Charades Wheel, Spinster, Dart Wheel, Trivia Wheel, Truth or Dare Wheel, and Wheel of Clues). It's now wired into the same live A/B experiment shown in our internal Platform Stats dashboard, so it's being tested against real visitor traffic. You can preview it any time at /adventure.

β˜•πŸŽ¨πŸŽ’πŸ‘»πŸ“š Five New Real-World Wheels, 150 New Quests

We added five new admin-run accounts, each built around a niche real-world theme, all with real venues, real addresses, and (where Google has them) real ratings and review counts -- never invented data.

Coffee Trail spins up real coffee cities: Seattle Coffee Crawl (17 quests, including Storyville Coffee Pike Place and Olympia Coffee Roasting) and Melbourne Coffee Culture (14 quests, including Seven Seeds Coffee Roasters).

Street Art Trail covers two of the world's best mural scenes: Melbourne Laneway Street Art (10 quests, including the famous Hosier Lane) and Berlin Street Art Trail (10 quests, including the East Side Gallery).

Thrill Parks is for coaster fans: Orlando Theme Park Icons (19 quests, including Magic Kingdom Park and Universal Islands of Adventure) and SoCal Thrill Trail (20 quests, including Disneyland Park and Knott's Berry Farm).

Haunted Trail keeps it family-friendly-spooky: New Orleans Haunted Trail (12 quests, including LaLaurie Mansion and St. Louis Cemetery No. 1) and Salem Haunted History (11 quests, including The Witch House at Salem and the Salem Witch Trials Memorial).

Literary Trail rounds it out for book lovers: NYC Literary Landmarks (20 quests, including the Strand Bookstore and the NYPL Stephen A. Schwarzman Building) and Edinburgh City of Literature (17 quests, including Blackwell's Bookshop and the National Library of Scotland).

That's 10 new wheels and roughly 150 new real-world quests in one batch, all sourced from Google Places with real coordinates and, where available, real ratings.

🌍 More Depth for Existing Wheels

We also topped up a handful of real-world wheels that were running thin: Mexico City Wanderlust (now with real La Merced Market-area landmarks alongside new additions -- spin it here), Dakar Landmarks, Accra Landmarks, Lagos Landmarks, and the small but mighty Horsefly Lake Provincial Park wheel in British Columbia. Altogether that added another 77 real quests to wheels that needed them most.

Try It Yourself

Spin any of the wheels above, or open Quest Compass to try the new live map underlay on your next real-world quest.
