TV Party Mode Is Here — Play Games on Any Screen | SpinQuest

SpinQuest TV Party Mode lets up to 6 players join on their own phones while the action plays out on a shared screen. Works with Trivia, Charades, Draw & Guess, and Truth or Dare.

TV Party Mode: How to Play SpinQuest on the Big Screen

TV Party Mode turns SpinQuest into a living room game show. Instead of everyone huddling around one phone, the wheel and game state appear on a TV or projector while each player follows along — and controls their private information — on their own device.

Which Games Support TV Mode

TV Party Mode is available in:
- Trivia — wheel spins on the TV, questions appear for everyone to see
- Charades — wheel on the TV, actor's prompt stays private on their phone
- Draw & Guess — canvas on the TV, players guess from their phones

How to Set It Up

Step 1: Connect your host device to the TV

You have several options:
- AirPlay (iPhone/iPad/Mac) — tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible TV
- Cast (Android) — tap the Cast icon and select your Chromecast or Chromecast-enabled TV
- HDMI cable — connect a laptop directly to the TV with an HDMI cable; this works for any device
- Screen Mirror — most modern smart TVs support wireless screen mirroring from Android devices

The SpinQuest app doesn't require any special TV app — you're just mirroring your host screen.

Step 2: Open the game and select TV Mode

From the game setup screen, tap TV Party Mode. The app will switch to a TV-optimized display — larger text, cleaner layout, designed to be readable from across the room.

Step 3: Share the room code

The TV will show a room code and QR code. Other players scan the QR code with their phones or go to spinquest.app/join and enter the room code manually.

Step 4: Play

Once everyone has joined, the host starts the game. Each player's phone becomes their personal controller. The TV shows what everyone needs to see; each phone shows what only that player should see.

What Players See on Their Phones vs the TV

On the TV (visible to everyone):
- The spinning wheel
- The category or game state
- The countdown timer
- The scoreboard

On each player's phone (private):
- In Charades: the actor's secret prompt
- In Trivia: scoring controls (for the host)
- In Draw & Guess: the guess input and voting buttons

This split-screen design is what makes TV Mode feel like a real game show. The drama of the wheel is public; the strategy and secrets stay private.

Tips for the Best Experience

Set the room to private. When you create the room, make sure it's set to private so random players from outside your group can't stumble in and join.

Use a laptop for the most reliable connection. Phone mirroring can occasionally stutter if you switch apps. A laptop connected via HDMI stays locked on SpinQuest with no interruptions.

Sit far enough from the TV. TV Mode uses larger text and simpler layouts for a reason — you should be able to read it comfortably from your couch. If you can't, increase the font size in your device display settings.

Designate a host. TV Mode works best when one person is clearly in charge of the host device (the one mirrored to the TV). Other players join as participants on their phones. The host controls the pace — when to spin, when to mark correct/wrong, when to advance to the next round.

Works on a laptop screen too. You don't need a TV. If you're playing at a table, a laptop in the center works just as well — everyone can see the screen, and phones handle the private views.
