Building a Multi-Stage Adventure: A Step-by-Step Walkthrough | SpinQuest

Learn how to build a SpinQuest multi-stage adventure — chain multiple spin wheels as steps in a journey. Step-by-step guide with examples for travel, fitness, and creativity.

Building a Multi-Stage Adventure: A Step-by-Step Walkthrough

If a single spin wheel is a moment of spontaneity, a multi-stage adventure is a full journey. By chaining wheels together as steps, you create an experience that unfolds over time — each spin revealing the next leg of the adventure. Here's how to build one.

What Is a Multi-Stage Adventure?

A multi-stage adventure is a sequence of spin wheels where completing one step unlocks the next. Each step is its own wheel with its own items.

Example — Weekend Travel Adventure:
- Step 1: Pick a Destination (wheel with 10 cities)
- Step 2: Pick an Activity at That Destination (wheel with local activities)
- Step 3: Pick a Restaurant for Dinner (wheel with cuisine types)

Each step builds on the previous one, creating a narrative arc from start to finish.

More examples:
- A fitness programme (Day 1: Strength training → Day 2: Cardio → Day 3: Mobility)
- A creative challenge week (Day 1: Medium → Day 2: Theme → Day 3: Subject)
- A date night planner (Step 1: Activity → Step 2: Dinner type → Step 3: After-party)

How to Build One

Step 1: Go to My Wheels → Adventure Icon

From My Wheels, tap the adventure icon (the multi-stage icon in the top bar). This opens the Adventure Builder.

Step 2: Name It and Write a Description

Your adventure name and description are what followers see first. Make them evocative:
- Name: "The 7-Day Creativity Sprint"
- Description: "One spin each day. Seven different creative challenges. Follow all seven steps and see what you make."

Step 3: Add Steps

Each step is a wheel. You can:
- Use an existing wheel from My Wheels — if you already have a "Workout Types" wheel, add it as Step 1
- Create a new wheel on the spot — name it, add items, done

Add as many steps as your adventure requires. Most adventures work best with 3–7 steps.

Step 4: Set "Order Matters" if the Sequence Is Important

If your adventure is designed to be completed in a specific order (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3...), toggle Order Matters on. This prevents users from skipping ahead to Step 3 before completing Steps 1 and 2.

If order is flexible — "spin any of these wheels in any order" — leave it off.

Step 5: Set Max Participants (Optional)

If you're running a group adventure with a limited cohort (e.g., a team building exercise for 20 people), set a participant cap. Once the limit is reached, new joiners see a "full" message.

Step 6: Publish

Toggle the adventure to Public and tap Publish. Your adventure now has its own shareable link and appears on your public profile under the Adventures tab.

How Users Complete Your Adventure

1. They visit your profile and open the adventure
2. They spin Step 1 and see their outcome
3. They tap "Accept Quest" to lock in that outcome and mark Step 1 complete
4. Step 2 unlocks — they return (today, tomorrow, or next week) to spin it
5. They continue until all steps are complete
6. The adventure marks itself as finished and shows their full journey summary

Tips for Great Adventures

Build a narrative. The best adventures feel like a story. Each step should feel like it follows naturally from the last.

Reward completion. Mention in your description what awaits at the end — a challenge completed, a journey taken, a transformation made. The promise of completion drives people through every step.

Use your link tree to promote it. Share the adventure link in your bio across all your social platforms. Adventures get more return visits than single wheels — which means more profile views, more followers.
