Step-by-step guide to building a SpinQuest quest wheel that keeps people spinning — naming items, setting difficulty, tags, visibility, and Wheel Studio theming tips.
The difference between a quest wheel that gets spun once and one that builds a following is almost always in the details. Here's a step-by-step guide to building a wheel that keeps people coming back.
Open the app and navigate to My Wheels. Tap Create New Wheel. Give it a name that's clear, specific, and ideally a little intriguing. Compare:
- "Exercise Ideas" → forgettable
- "20 Ways to Move Your Body in 10 Minutes" → specific and actionable
- "The Daily Adventure Wheel" → evocative and brand-able
The name is the first thing followers see. Make it count.
Open your new wheel and go to Manage Wheel. Start adding items. The golden rule: every item should be specific and actionable.
Vague items create confusion and disappointment. Specific items create clarity and delight.
Aim for 15–30 items. Fewer than 10 and the wheel feels repetitive quickly. More than 30 and items rarely come up, which undermines the sense of discovery.
For quest wheels, marking relative difficulty helps users calibrate their expectations. SpinQuest lets you tag items — use this to distinguish quick 5-minute quests from bigger hour-long challenges. A mix of effort levels keeps the wheel engaging across different moods and energy levels.
Public — appears in Community search, can be shared via link, discoverable by new followers. Best for wheels you want to grow.
Private — only accessible to you via a direct link. Good for personal wheels you're not ready to share, or wheels for a specific group.
You can change visibility at any time.
Tags are how your wheel gets discovered in Community search. Use 3–6 tags that describe your wheel's content and audience:
- For a fitness wheel: fitness, exercise, daily challenge, wellness, movement
- For a travel wheel: travel, destinations, bucket list, adventure, wanderlust
Be specific. "Morning routine" is more useful than "health." People searching for morning routine content will find you directly.
This setting refreshes the wheel's content automatically over time, so frequent spinners always encounter fresh items. Great for wheels that people spin daily or weekly. Turn it on under Wheel Settings.
A plain default wheel is functional but forgettable. Even a simple custom background colour or gradient (available to all paid users) makes your wheel feel like yours. Creator plan users should spend 15–20 minutes in Wheel Studio to create a theme that reflects their brand — it's the single highest-impact change you can make to a public wheel.
Update seasonally. A "Summer Activity Wheel" should swap in and out items as seasons change. Followers who spun it in June will spin it again in December if they trust it's been refreshed.
Pin the wheel link in your bio. Every social bio should have a direct link to your best wheel. It's the most effective way to convert social media followers into SpinQuest followers.
Ask for feedback. Post your wheel on your socials and ask followers what items they'd love to see added. Community-built wheels get community loyalty.
